Frequently Asked Questions

What does a college consultant do?

We guide students and families through every step of the college admissions process — from building a college list to perfecting essays, preparing for interviews, and navigating financial aid options. Our goal is to make the journey less stressful and more successful.

How is working with a consultant different from using my school counselor?

High school counselors often work with hundreds of students, making it hard to give highly personalized attention. We provide one-on-one, in-depth guidance tailored to your student’s goals, timeline, and strengths.

When should we start working with you?

Ideally, we begin in 9th or 10th grade to help with course planning, extracurricular choices, and early college exploration. However, we work with students at any stage — even senior year.

How does the process work?

We start with a complimentary consultation to discuss your needs. Then, we create a personalized action plan, meet regularly (in person or virtually), and guide you step-by-step until applications are submitted.

Do you work with students outside your area?

Yes! We work with students nationwide via video conferencing and online collaboration tools.

Will you write my child’s essays for them?

No. We believe in empowering students to tell their own stories. We provide brainstorming, editing, and feedback to help them craft compelling, authentic essays in their own voice.

How much does it cost to work with you?

We offer hourly rates, package options, and comprehensive programs. Pricing depends on the level of support you need. We’ll review all options during your consultation.

Is there a contract?

Yes, we use a simple agreement that outlines the services, expectations, and fees so everything is clear from the start.

Can you guarantee admission to a certain school?

No consultant can guarantee admission. Our role is to help your student present their strongest possible application, expand their college options, and make informed decisions.

Do you work with transfer students or graduate school applicants?

At this time, we assist only college freshmen with application strategy, essays, and interview preparation.

Can you help with scholarships and financial aid?

Absolutely. We guide families through the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and merit scholarship opportunities to help make college more affordable.
