I started my college education as a 1st-generation freshman at the age of 40 and earned my Master’s in Communication in 2023.

Early on, I discovered that I liked going to college. So, I decided to work there. During my 12-year career in higher ed, I helped students as an academic advisor, financial aid officer, and College Success Coach.

I developed Shorette Educational Consulting as an educational resource for students and parents. My mission is to empower high school students and teach them how to advocate for themselves — how to find their path and follow it. How to build their future.

I live in East Texas with my husband, loving my life of weekly family dinners, visiting with friends, occasional cruises, and caring for my dad.
